Early/Late ST185?
« on: October 31, 2009, 09:26:58 am »
Can anybody verify if mine is a early or late ST185.

I wish to order some service parts and need to know whether mine falls into the bracket of 89-91 or 91-93.

The date of first registration was: 05/12/1991
Car Number: 14433

Iv worked out from the VIN that the car was made in around May 91 though.

If anybody could clarify this for me.  I can give you my VIN for you to check the code.

Many thanks

James

production date for mine was 04/91 which would suggest it is an early one?

im checking these dates as i am getting some ht leads from tcb parts and it seems they list 2.  I cant believe the difference in price !

I think the connectors are different, also early and late models have either 8mm or 5mm leads, iirc

Does make a difference, as Chris mentioned, there are different connections and either 8mm or 5mm leads,  iirc there is also a difference between the UK car and the Import.  I had an st185 that was manufactured november 89, a very early import and the subsequent parts from my 91 UK car were different.

There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship"  more than wrinkles in the gaffer tape.....
