Track/road tyres
« on: August 25, 2009, 10:41:59 am »
Over the winter I plan to make the car a little more track-ified, and tyres are one of the next things on the list. Does anyone have recommendations as to a good road-legal tyre that will peform well on track?

Yes, i'm a tight-wad (see: "Skint Dad"), so cost is a factor also.

When I say "road-legal" I think what i'm after is a high quality premium tyre, rather than an out-and-out track tyre. Something from the bottom of the list on this page, for instance...

I've used Bridgestone RE050 before, and they seemed pretty good for cornering in both wet and dry. To be honest, anything would be an improvement on the garbage that my alloy wheels came wrapped in.

I've got RE050's on the back, tho after bursting one on the A19 I've put a pair of Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's up front now. Cheaper and just as good imho. The price on the Bridgestones has gone up about 50% since I bought mine 2 years ago, hence looking at the options.

Here's the Hankooks:

Can't see which you mean as that link just takes me to the general page, lol, no worries

Damn, stoopid link. The tyre size is 225/40 R18.

These seem to be in the realm of what i'm looking for...

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3, Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric, Toyo Proxes T1-R, Yokohama PARADA SPEC 2, Pirelli P Zero Nero.

Any good/bad experiences of these?
