Our picnic
« on: January 25, 2009, 02:49:55 pm »
Today is our anniversary and so Chris had gone to the extent of completely valeting my car and fixing loads of niggly bits on it for me so she was almost unrecognisable to me :)

We thought it would be really nice to take them both out for a run since it was sunny and a trip up the coast to Warkworth Castle seemed a good idea.. a good photo opportunity and we could have a picnic and generally make the most of our day...

Anyway once Chris had completed the finishing touches on my car and I had made the sandwiches off we set...

My first surprise was Vpower at 92p a litre !! OMG.. how long is it since I put petrol in my 4  :D

After the fuel stop we set off up the A19.. tootling along quite happily (trying not to get dirty).. and then I saw Chris indicating to pull into a lay-by..

His rear near side tyre was looking soft and we decided to pull into the garage just up the road to put some air in..

As he pulled away.. I nearly made a mess of my nice clean seat as I thought his back wheel was coming off.. it turned out to be 'just' the tyre which then settled back into place (ish) and we proceeded.. rally style.. on the alloy to the garage :)

Typically this was the ONLY time we have ever gone out without toolboxes and so I came home to get them so we could change the wheel..
Space saver on we limped home.. put the babies back in the garage and had our picnic in front of the TV.. how romantic are we :) :)

Ironically Chris could drive faster on this than on the space saver  :o

Well Happy Anniversary.
Seems like it is the DIRT on the wheels that has EATEN its way through the tyre ;D

Hope you watched something decent on the TV...and what's up with going out in 1 car? Together? Do you really hate each others driving 'that' much ;D ;D ;D

Seriously wanting another GT4 NOW god dam it!!!

Congratulations you two   :)
Sorry to hear that the picnic didn't go 2 plan. It must have been Chris using all that power that tore the tire appart ;D lol

Thanks guys, lol, I wish it had been down to power but still doing my second lot of run-in miles :(

It does say a lot for the quality of Bridgestone tyres, as the walls stayed intact and protected the alloy

Cheers

Good to hear that the alloys are ok and its "just" a new tyre which is bad enough.

happy anniversary to you guys.  You see its true what they say, the good ole 185 is just too powerful!!  Hope it all turned out ok though.  (oh chris, did you post my welcome pack?)
Gaffer tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side and it holds the universe together.

There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship"  more than wrinkles in the gaffer tape.....

I reckon the tyre failed due to the weight of the crate, i should make a recomendation to tyre manufacturers to use reinforced tyres in future.
