From bad to worse
« on: February 22, 2008, 05:00:10 pm »
Things just eem to get worse for me as of late, 1st had a problem mounting my FMIC finally got that done and then the main power cable melted got that replaced and got the car back last week then someone smacked into the back of me last night on my way home from work, this resulted in the car jurking forward and hitting the car in front (was stationaty in a queue) thankfully no one was badly hurt I have strained my back and neck.

Just gotta wait now see what the insurance say, pretty sure they will write it off becuase of what willl need done replaced.

so its a decistion whether to buy it back and part onto another 185 or just part it and get a 205! don't know yet its the 1st time I have been in a road collision so as a bit on edge with it all.

Heres some picks: :'(

i feel your pain dude, i've recently been in an accident in my works van, first one i have ever been in, it really shock me up!! to make it worse i got 9 points for driving without due care and attention which i thought was harsh considering i didnt see him and changed lane only to realise he was there in my blind spot >:(

imo it depends on what you really want whether its the satisfaction of rebuilding the 185 or just buying a 205 and beeing done with it, if i had the time and space in the garage i'd do the 185 but have a 205 for a daily lol ;D
if women were GT4's men would never cheat.

If I had a garage it would be a easy choice as the 185 would become a track/project but dont have no where for it so will have to play it ny ear.

It is possible that the insurance company will want to right it off, however, they will still be obliged to pay out the value of it. It is in their interest to get a good deal for you as it will be claimed from the guy who ran in to the back of you, as will the personal injury claim.

You definitely want the option to buy back the vehicle, either for parts or project, as the money from the claim should more than cover the cost of repairs. Or sell parts and the joint sum for a faff.

Hope you manage to get it sorted ok, feel free to give me a shout if you need any tips/advice.

Cheers

Never mind the car... you GOT TO make a claim for neck injury and... do not sign a disclaimer  after getting 2K fot your injury..you will be able to claim for osterioposis and arthrisis and allsorts later in life... screw the insurance company... they live of our blood! :)

sorry to hear this, i know it becomes very disheartening, i've been in a few collisions on the road and crashes whilst in a rally car and know full well what your feeling........ make sure you get every penny your owed and never settle for the 1st payout haggle with them, cut out good fours from now to the settlement date from the auto trader and argue your case yours is worth as much as those good one's........... buy back the four too even if you don't want to see it again or its not worth fixing as its worth breaking as i have learned it only cost me 150 to buy my old one back from them

cheers guys,

will all depend what they will see it back to me, the main problem is I have no where to keep it so would most likly sell what I can then try sell the shell as a whole all depending what they say if they write it off.

I'll stick a tenner on all of the above apart from 'watching the road' >:(

Sorry to hear about this. I would try and buy it back if I was you but it might just get repaired with a bit of luck ;)
Good luck!!!

I aint settling for anything less than £2500 I know I wouldn't get this selling the car if it wasn't smashed up but I wasn't going to sell and the car was low milage and had some expensive mods (which I paid to get covered)

just have to wait and see, plus I went and bought a ST205 at the weekend so need to pay that off so won't be taking tupence for it, then I am going to buy it back and part it. got some nice leather i there I don't want going to the scrap yard.
