CS V 205
« on: December 29, 2007, 09:34:12 am »
Ribbie asked about my thoughts on another thread about having the two motors now,
I posted "CS is great about town and on the restricted limit roads, low down grunt, seems to handle better in traffic and strangley enought feels lighter for manouvering. (tyres and wheels I know) I feel I know where her corners are too.
205 is a Grand Tourer, it's comfier, lighter, faster and prefers the open road. I havn't driven her for a month as Craig is sorting my manifold studs ETC but I am looking forward to getting her back. She would be my daily and the CS the weekender if I can afford to keep both.
More installments to come.
Think I will stick this in a new post."
And... here it is.

whats the CS like inside Jeff - in what way is it less comfy - seats or just the general layout, are they quiet inside too?

How about economics - are they better or worse on fuel?

Thanks for the comparison Jeff :)

Sitting here sniffing and coughing having just found toyota do not do my CS colour any more I shall comment back to Robbie.
Not a lot of difference inside, handbrake is 2" further left and I keep missing it! Steering wheel jumps up and down which is a knacker if you forget! seats are all standard and comfy once you find the right spot.
I think the comfort relates to suspension. Ayone can of course change that to suit. Mine are again, standard. CS is more 'in touch' with the road surface.
It is much quieter inside too but this will be because my 205 has no mid box and a kakimoto back box!
FUEL.... flipping FUEL you ask, well Ive done 4 fills on the CS and averaged 21.4 Ive done over 200 fills of the 205 and average 22.5 :)
Gawd my throad hurts with all this gabbing. Need whiskey?

so your saying jeff the 185 is the true back roads rally slag, and the 205 is for beating the scoobies on the drag strip, good comparisons there, i was expecting worse fuel consumption but they are averaging the same if you take age into the equation, hope you can keep them both

Hey, faffers claim immunity on this one!  ;D

Everyone knows the two bucket system is the best way to wash a car! It's not just faffers  :P

If you think about it logically, if you are using one bucket, everytime you wash the car over your wash mitt (as I hope you arn't using a sponge  :-X) gets covered in dirt and grit (not too much grit though, as you should have already rinsed the car down to get the worst off) that was on the car, you then rinse this into the bucket... So the next mitt full of water for the car is now full of grit and dirt which you happily scrub into your paintwork?

With two buckets you rinse into one, and then take the fresh water from another, considerably reducing the chances of scratching the paint :)

Anyway, sorry Jeff, realised we are going off topic here, will benice to seewhat you think when you get the 205 back again :)

Hi

Never had a 205 but....
Seem to remember Paul Bartolo saying his CS suspension would give 205 a run for its money.
Coilovers an all.
He reckoned when the rally team got sick of replacing superstruts they reverted back to the 185 system.
With open road running, e.g. North Yorkshire I get 25mpg ish, in town the standard ECU meters badly, one of the reasons I am looking at an aftermarket ECU.
Think my seats are comfy but I prefer an upright driving position.
I do prefer my CT20b ceramic turbo compared to a CT26
Standard brakes are crap

But I do like the curves of the bodywork, not an in yer face high rise spoiler.

My 2p

Stephen

Do not forget... I am comparing a standard CS to a standard UK205 WRC.
The crate itself is 'different' from the CS and the standard 205 is 'different' from the UK WRC.
Anything JDM is on another planet.... ECU and fuel type required are so different that direct comparisons cannot be made.
Neither can anything which has had modified suspension/turbo etc.!!! My mods on both are pretty basic so I can see/feel the difference.
Yours truly
Have a happy new year (I'm going to bed)
