My diff mount quote from toyota :D
« on: December 03, 2007, 09:06:40 pm »
A mate of mine has just got a job at the local Toyota dealers selling cars, now ive had a few probs witht he fours back end, roughly pinned down tothe diffmount, however to be sure this mat has a word with the mechanics and bags me a free VSR, a cehicle service report, they will find out hte exact parts i need and let me know.

Dropped car off early morning, was given a new yaris courtesy car, nice to drive, smooth, did about a thousand miles to the gallon etc, just a normal car.

Phone rang,

"Hello"
"ahh yes, hello, its mr x from toyota, we can confirm it is your diff mount that has been the problem"
"ahh excellent, just what i thought, how much please to fix it."

Slight pause.

"hello?"
" well its going to be £1150 including VAT"

Another slight pause,

"Come again"
"£1150, its a hard job, we have to drop the subframe, will take us all day, in excess of around 6, maybe 7 hours labour"

By this tim im crying with laughter and couldnt speak, day after had it done by another reputable garage for  less than 1 / 10th the price.

Spoke to the mate who works their and from his gathering of the situation, they quoted me so high because tey didnt want to work on it, as its a rare and a oldish car. What a way to run a business. Its been said time and time again, but this is truer now to me than ever, never ever ever, let the monkeys at toyota "Faff" with your car under no circumstances.

Clearly they were raised by wild dogs and have no concepts of the real world.

Rant over  :D

i'll do it for half oops i'm still too dear i just love the way they quote you stupid money rather than saying it would be cheaper getting the parts and taking it to a garage off the street, a guy done that too me when it came to respraying the four, why not say i wouldn't be bothered with the hassle than saying take it to joe soap he'll give you a good rate on it, bemuses me
