As some of you may know, I'm having one or two shiny bits put on my 4 by the skilled hands of Ian Smith and Lee Dawes.
So I've been after a higher rated clutch. Sadly, the one I'm after isn't in stock atm, so like a little bargain hunter I toddle off the the bay of e.
A search on clutch and gt4 brings up several options, so I choose one that leads me to the sellers shop: Woohoo, I think, a clutch rated for over 360bhp! Tho I wonder just how much 'over' it is.
So I send the seller a question: How much over the stated 360bhp is your clutch rated for? As I will be pushing towards 500bhp, hopefully, and a similar hike in torque. Can you send me more details? Cheers
His reply: There isn't anywhere that you can get a single plate clutch that will hold 500bhp on a GT4. You need to buy an Exedy Hiper twin plate clutch. We sell them for £1150, would you like one?
I worded my reply carefully: For your information, Turboclutch/RPS have several single plate units that are capable of supporting the power I seek. Thank you for the offer to spend 4 times what your advertised clutch is on for, but no thanks.
Am I expecting too much to get a straight-forward and informed response to my query? Or is this just another example of dumb-bay!!?
Rant over, thank you for your patience
