Which Garage to use in Scotland(and North Engarlannd)
« on: May 02, 2008, 06:39:23 pm »
Well this is one for all the other "jocks" on the site. Which garage do you recommend for working on your 4, my usual guy has just retired early and gone to live in France!!!
So guys who do you use/recommend. I don't mind travelling   "IF"  the garage is good and the mechanics know what they are doing.

so come on give me a list :)

PS I don't mind travelling to the other side of the border (Mrs Nevs Engarlish after all) so add in the North of England

Or for something a 'little' closer try Martin King in Blackburn I think it is, or Bolton, or Bury...I know it's around there in Lancashire and it begins with a 'B' ;)

Seriously wanting another GT4 NOW god dam it!!!

There's a nice little garage in Larkhall where I used to take mine for general stuff... also the one up in Glenrothes whose name escapes me just now seemed ok, though I only used them for tracking but they do know their cars..
we now have a good garage in North Shields .. again for general stuff.
Always goes to Uncle Smithy for anything big :)

Falkland rings several bells for where we used to take Cee's 4. They have any number of vehicles but tend to work on Cossies and Scoobs, however, can't fault them. HTH

Cheers

Do you really need a Garage for what you want?
Many individuals in this area are very competant at fixing basic problems and one of them has a good spare parts base too?
Let us know what it is you need and we can certainly find someone to fill the bill?????
Previously a UK WRC ST205 & a CS (UK !*%)
Now.... a 1970 Triumph 13/60 convertible, a Hyindai Amica and a Honda CR-Z Hybrid :)

Thanks Jeff :)
Don't need anything at present, it was just a general question to try and find a good, well recommended garage that other 4 users had used.
If i need anything in the future i will certainly contact your good self for help :) :)
Thanks again

Cheers Nev. Most of the garages in the N/E have tried and failed to carry out satisfactory work on the 4! ChrisW is right to say Ian is the man. Never heard a bad word. Fair hike but worth it by all accounts. :)

http://www.japerformance.co.uk/ I`ve not used this place myself yet, but the owner used to drive a 205 and I`ve heard good things about them, not too cheap though. Just up the road from me in ellon so still a fair drive from fife depending on where you are.

If I get a new four before the first sunday of next month I think I`ll take it up there for the £40 dyno run.

I've driven the GT4 that this guy used to own, it was a yellow 205. A mate of mine from the MR2OC bought it but he didn't keep it and sold it on.
Ellon's not that far really so thanks for the link 8)
