Title: New GT4 enthusiat Need a small bit of advice
Post by: i-mtheone on July 15, 2007, 01:59:41 pm
Hi all I'm new to this club and forums this is the first one I have ever used so be gentle :)
I have just bought a ST205 and have owned a ST165 & ST185
I'm picking it up on sat 21 just wanted to ask is there anything that I really need to check ?
I know about the figure 8's and how to check them. Is there anything else ?
One more thing I have a 1.8 ST 1996 UK when I bought it the key fob wasn't there so got one of Ebay, Can I programme it or do I have to take it to a Toyota dealer
look forward to being in this club and WILL be going to the meets and events.

Thanks for any help Mike (Siberiandylan)

Hi Mike, welcome to the club. From what I'm aware, the fig 8s is the main one on the faff, however, check when timing belt was changed, smoking on idle, even tyre wear, the usual suspects like paint touch-ups hiding possible damage. Hope you enjoy it on here, most of the guys play nice most of the time ;) Keep your eye on the 'meets' section, it's a busy summer. Honestly don't know on the key-fob issue, but I'm sure someone will know.

Cheers

PS Where are you located?

Welcome to the club Mike.

Can't help much with what to look for but make sure it hasn't been run into a wall making it ugly...oh hang on...aint that a design feature on the 205 ;D :P

Anyway, first time forum user eh?
Most of 'em are gentle on here. Just watch out for Jeff cos he has a phobia of forums so he seems to get p**sed before he posts ;D and watch out ofr Isi at meets 'cos she'll eat you alive :D

Hope you enjoy your time here and look forward to (hopefully) meeting you at some meets 8)

wttc lad, take the fob to a electrics garage they'll program it for a few quid, no idea howe its done though cause there so many sequences, but i'm sure you'll find it on the net somewhere, no point in taking it Toyota for them to charge you a fortune
