Title: Anyone working over Christmas?
Post by: Driveby on December 17, 2010, 08:06:26 pm
Im in all the way through, except xmas and boxing days and the following 2 bank holidays. Our sales dept only gets christmas day off and is open boxing day and the bank holidays  :(.  The workshops have been told we have to be open the new year bank holiday (though Im sure they cant force anyone to work a BH that doesnt have it in their contract (the sales dept do) No double time with time off for us though, only the time back in lieu.  Ive put my name down to work but only because I need a day off early in January ;).
I can see this being the start of us working every bank holiday :(
Anyone else getting the shaft this year? ;)

Working until about 3-ish xmas eve, Drive down south to the old mans for christmas eve night. Travel back up north teatime xmas day, swap cars (To the practical one, as I have to pick up our lass, her mum, brother and sister in law. I don't think the celica will be the best car for them.) and join the mayhem at my nieces place. I'm back in work for 2 days between xmas and new year then I have the 1st week in Jan off.

Next year I think I'm trying to book off the week between and the first week in Jan off. I don't think it'll cost too many holidays.

The official line for us is 2pm finish on christmas eve and new years eve though we usually have vey little work booked in so the day drags on.

Better to be busy than unemployed.

Once upon a time (not that long ago) it was only a privalidged few that had time off between xmas and new year.

I know the feeling, we may think about slinging a switch in our office for the day and unreal tournement / Quake match.

I finish up on xmas eve, then off til the 4th... When I will start in a new more 'compact' office in a different town. Closer to home at least. Maybe start running the Four to work again.  :)
