MOT Sorted and im already growing attached to the old girl
now ive done all the bits and got 12mnths mot i had a little tweak.
got 10psi
k&n filter on standard CT26
IC on constant
and 3" full stainless inc cat
what do you think shed be pulling on that? and where to go from there??
not really interested in new management etc etc.
maybe just few bits like FMIC, Tuning, Lagging etc.
New turb is on list already obv
Whats everyone else got out of interest? all models ;D

How deep are your pockets.? What is the bhp figure you require..? how reliable do you need it? How friendly is you bank manager?

lol i know i went there with the golf and ended changhing the engine as it was the "cheapest" option!
at the moment all i wanna do is optomise what i have...i.e no aftermarket ecu's and standard internals.
that should stop me getting silly.
at the end of the day its a st165
if i wanna be silly ill just get a st205 but im oldskool to the bone tbh ;D

just sick in a 205 lump.. up the boost 300 bhp..sorted.

A rough guess on output would be 210ish. My original mods got me to 300(check profile on old forum, minus hydra, injectors and walbro).
What tubby you after?

as far as i was aware choices of turbo for the 165 are a bit limited??
i have a spare standard ct26 at home so my first thought was just to get that refurbed and hybridised at same time.
p.s how i get to old forum? lol

Hi mate, glad your 165 is coming together, power wise, I think you will be between 210 and 220, I make 255bhp at 1 bar on my hybrid, its a CT26 stage 2.
Next mods, colder grade plugs, lag you charge cooler res, and look at improving the chargecooler rad, I have bined my AC so I can now run a metro turbo rad just for charge cooler.
the other easyish power mods, straight intake, battery in boot, downpipe if you do not have one yet and if possible water injection so you can run more boost.
your big issue is going to be power loss due to heat, you will find the car is great first thing in the morning, but after getting in traffic latent heat will sap power.
Make sure you have removed your bonnet insulation, heat sheild the area over the turbo, and remove the rear rubber strip.
I had great results by venting the bonnet directly over the turbo too.

I reckon you must be good for about just over the 200 bhp mark,although watch out your filter aint suckin hot air and loosin you power(i had that on my 185 with a blitz sus filter)plenty of piping for cold air and a heat sheild are a must ;)

yeh think my next job like all have said is ventilation and making better path for the cold intake.
i was also wondering as the exhaust mani is so easy to get off when i change turbo again maybe put a high flow one on?????? or is it a little pointless as they are so short neway

I'm in two minds about this - intuition would tell you that it would allow the heat to escape but in actual fact that is a high pressure area when moving at any speed- meaning any hole there will have air forced down it (hence why your heaters blow air through without a fan, despite not having a scoop and being hidden in the dip behind the bonnet) - so opening that area could well screw up the airflow. I found it made no odds to my intake temps so I put it back.
