Title: Cleaning car carpets
Post by: Frikkin Evil on May 17, 2010, 10:21:03 am: No, i've not developed a stutter. :D

Having just sorted a leak from the sunroof in 'ol blue (my diesel Ford Focus), I now need to dry out the floorpan and carpets. It seems it was leaking for a while, and the carpet is a bit... funky.

I might just go to the scrappies and get a replacement, but i'm considering taking the whole carpet out and cleaning it. Any ideas for products or techniques that may be useful?

Post by: ChrisW on May 17, 2010, 11:42:03 am: Is the carpet small enough to fold up and put in the washer? If not, then it's a bit time consuming...lie it out flat, vacuum it, spray on foam cleaner, then work it in with a stiff brush. Rinse and repeat til you're happy with it.

Buy a second hand one.. plenty of rusty old fords out thier to pick from. ;D

I'd be looking for another carpet I think! That said, it was only that hard as it would have fallen apart if i'd washed it in a machine, if you can do that I'm sure it'll be fine.

Anyway, the car's not that bad... although I have been known to use a "Police Aware" sign to get free parking. :D
