Title: Car Tax
Post by: Frikkin Evil on March 31, 2010, 12:14:19 pm
"The government totally sucks, you mother ****er."

The four has been SORNed for a few months now, but the time has come to get her on the road once more.

My problem with this is that every time I take a look on the Car tax online website, it indicates the start of tax to be 1st March, even when I checked today! I thought that if I applied within X days of the end of the month they'd start it from April 1st, but it would seem this is only the case if it's already taxed.

So in other words, they want nearly a month of tax out of me for the privilege of choosing to drive it today (which I obviously won't be doing, but that's not the point).

Outdated, draconian, officious, burecratic, *BLEEP*e... (sp?)

And there's the fun fact that if you try to tax a car online whos tax runs out at the end of the month at the same time as the insurance, you can't tax it online as there's no insurance for the coming period. Called DVLA to confirm, all you can do is ring your insurance company and get them to extend your cover by a month, or pay the extra for 6 months tax.

I nearly had the insurance problem, as yesterday it said I wasn't insured (policy just started 2 days ago). Fortunately, checked askMID today and i'm green-light good to go for the morrow.

It'll be nice to take her to work tomorrow and blast, er gently swish, the cobwebs off. How much is optimax these days?  ;D

NOTE TO ALL!!!

If you are renewing your car tax online, be sure that your insurance company has updated your details at www.askMID.com (http://www.askMID.com) or you won't get your car taxed.

I will be having several words with Sky tomorrow, as they haven't updated my details. Not a happy bunny!!!!!

Cheers

Funny that, the same thing happened to me when I was with them. Now i'm with Admiral, and they did it within 2 days.

On a separate note, just filled the Four up at Sainsbury's with their Super Unleaded (meh, it's closer than Tesco)... And it cost me £75! Six months ago when I last filled up it was about a tenner less! Cock.

Well if it's any consolation, I've been having awesome fun in the four today. I've just been driving around doing my job, but it's been so much better with 210 more ponies. The weather has been great too... how weird.  8)
