Title: TV cables
Post by: The Doctor on February 02, 2010, 10:29:14 am
Thinking of buying a new  lcd or plasma tv and want to know if the amazing prices charged for the cables are worth it ? Just been into Curry`s and some 1 metre cables in gold are £100 :o

Do they make that much of a difference especially after a couple of beers  ???

Ive been told theres no difference between a £100 cable and a £10 cable. Its just a big sales pitch by the people selling the tvs to say 'you'll need this cable because you've got the faster refresh rates blah blah blah'.

I dont have any factual evidence though so would be your call.

I agree on reading around.

This about sums it up"The signal that is being passed through the HDMI cable is a digital one. It is either ON or OFF. There is NO signal strength or nothing to amplify or anything like that. You either get a picture on your TV or you don't. Therefore, No one HDMI cable is better than the other at passing a signal. Some cables may have a little better build quality than the other but they won't be better at getting a picture to your TV."

"There is absolutely no difference in quality between an expensive HDMI cable and a cheaper one. The Gadget Show on Channel 5 proved this a couple of weeks ago where they compared a £5 cable to a £112 cable - there was no difference in picture or sound quality at all!

Its all a big con!

;D If only they had stuck to simple names like that for the COD series... oh the confusion they've caused the ordinary drunk blokes in the pub talking about video games.

i work in electrical wholesalers, and currys dixon all big name companys proper rip you off. we can get hold of them well cheap, i work at led electrical in rossendale near burnley. ring us tommorow and we will get you one really cheap, phone number is 01706211027. just mention to the sales team darrel told you to ring, and youll get a discount and we will then send it on a carrier for you. the difference between lcd and plasma is plasma is run by gas and gets very hot like a heater. lcd is run by crystal and lasts a lot longer, also lcd picture is better. alot of companys are selling plasmas cheap now because they are not going to be making them soon, had to much problems with them.
hope that helped
cheers
darrel.
