A lot more constructive than I've managed, lol, every time I spot a Celica(whilst on a lesson) I rattle off letters and numbers to the pupil and they look at me like I'm mad.
Keep us up to date ;)
-
It's a great idea, and I can tell it'll be impressive when finished, but tell me this...
How will you react on xmas day when he says <little britain voice> "I don't want it... I want an ST205 one"? ;D
-
I won't have to worry about that, my boy has taste ;D
Plus he'll only be 5 months old, so I'll be lucky to get a gurgle fom him... ;D
-
i like the box design....amazingly similar to the real thing ;D
looking forward to seeing the finished product
-
You laugh now ;D

Any further progress? An update pic would be good :)

Just finished the graphics at the weekend. I will be printing these off tomorrow in work and then I have to cut the wood (already have templates printed out)
So, hopefully be done next week sometime and I'll post pics then ;)
If not the missus will be none too happy - this is one of my boys chrimbo prezzies ;)
-
No pressure then!
-
Just remember plenty of Waxoil before you apply the graphics you know how those 165's rust :P
-
i'm supprised you've got started with this... like a 165. ;D
-
HA HA very funny...... ;D
TIZ FINISHED and if I do say so myself, it looks proper job ;)
See pics attached
Started off by doing the cad of the construction - I changed this a bit when I made it, wanted to improve things, sloped the bonnet down slightly, and got rid of the wood protruding through the sides. We do this at work to give it more strength but I ended up using thicker wood ;)

This is the panels cut out and primed after sanding

This one shows them pained in the final colours, I even mixed up 040 super white ;) The black is the wheels

And now the finished result, graphics look spot on. I designed them all and printed them on glossy then ran them through our laminating machine at work. This applies a plastic coating to the outside to protect the print and it also gives it a nice satin sheen. It also applies a double sided sticky back for mounting.
I think it looks sweet as
