Reports say the compact rear-drive Toyota will be built by Subaru alongside the latter company’s own version of the project. Both cars will share a Subaru-sourced 2.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-four engine.
Today’s Subaru 2.0-litre boxer is a 146bhp, 141lb ft unit but, by the time the cars hit showrooms in late 2011, that engine is likely to have been superceded by an updated version - so a little more power is at least a possibility.
Lets hope they build a 4wd turbo version coz that thing might look the part but in reality it hasnt got the power to pull the skin off a rice pudding :(

146bhp are they having a Giraffe?
Looks pretty slick though 8)

It's tiny. Think Ford Fester sized. And I suppose like all twin-cams it'll not be stardard for long.
-
146bhp is only about 3 bhp less than the turbo version of the scooby flat 4 so thats pretty good ;D
I'm sure they will do a faster version? It looks like its going 146 just sat there 8)

hey... look... I'll buy one of these anduse the club 'knowlwdge' to upgrade and blow it apartt?
You with me?
-
It looks pretty smart, tho it has a hint of the nissan 350 in appearance?
-
Not keen, front end resembles a smudged nissan, rear looks like a blurred civic and it comes with a poor powerpack, not for me thanks. Seems like a continuation of mediocrity.
Good find though.
-
Its supposed to be the new 'GT4' when fitted with the 2.5 from the sti and AWD.
-
Still fecking ugly :D
-
Do you reckon they'll get together and make a rally homologation which has a bit of power? Maybe get back into WRC? ;)
-
Word is that Subaru is looking to thew S2000 route, so there maybe something there.
Don't look for Toyota back in the WRC until they move out of F1.
-
I recall reading something about the S2000 idea, possibly one of your own posts, tho the grey matter is a tad jaded this evening.
Maybe Glock and Trulli should follow Hakkinen's example(tho stay on the road)?
