Title: Whats a good ST162 worth these days
Post by: Wiggy on August 26, 2009, 09:25:15 pm
I'm in the market for a run about and being a big fan of the 165 and having had many 165's and 162's over the years I quite fancy a 162 to last me through the winter. Obviously want a pretty good example, no rust, low miles....so whats one worth on the open market? Like 165's, you just never see them anymore so wondered if anyone had personal recent experience with one?

Cheers

I saw a white one the other day while I was out and about. They are stunning motors. Not many for sale it seems.

nope you just don't see ST16* cars anymore and if you do they are usually sheds. One on eBay at the mo but the arches are shot (as usual) Fighting a loosing battle once that rust sets in...lol

The rest of it sounds OK though, plently of history and only 100k on the clock, not bad for a 23 year old car I suppose and I'm not really after a show winner.

where did you get them from? Does Mr T sell stuff like that, I guess they do?
Sunroof panels are always a must to replace as well, does anyone know how much a new one is?

There is a fella over here called Eric. Paul_GT4 has a number for him. He has a 3SGTE 162 that he engineered himself, but the point of this ramble is that in building it he found a place in Hitlerland that supplies good cheap panels for the 4th Gen cars.
Maybe someone could persuade Paul to get the details?

Ahh.... If I get a car that needs one I may invest in a new unit from Mr T and get it sprayed to match. I'd love a minter in completely standard trim, when you look how much the older celicas are going for these days. There is a horrid brown one on Piston heads and they want over £6k for it  ;)
