Anybody taken these off and if so how do you do it? Do you have to remove the door card to get to the gubbins.
Also, is there much weight in these bad boys? 00)
-
They do weigh a canny bit. I'm doing a bit of spannering tomorrow so I can have a look at how to get them off :o unless someone posts beforehand ;)
-
Use your boot.... the bad boys do.
One big kick and it's gone :)
-
I see where you are coming from Jeff but I'm not sure it will leave me with the look I am after ???

Buggered if you change your mind as well 00)

Don't think I've ever seen a wing mirror attached any other way than bolted through with the inner card covering the bolts?
-
I have removed them before. Take off the triangular plastic piece, and there are 4 screws. If your car has the door tweeters, those two bolts are are also used for the mirror so take them out. Then there is one more bolt holding it, and IIRC the fourth bolt is an adjustment bolt.
But yeah, just take off the plastic triangle trim piece and unscrew it lol. They weigh around 1-1.5 kg, and the retractable ones weigh a bit more

Nice one, may have a bit play around tonight.

What you got your eye on Steve? some replacement after market ones? or got some other trick up your sleeve?
-
Yeh, I was thinking maybe some after market ones but I thought I'd get them off first and have a look. Always looking to save more weight.
-
Got some time last night so I took off the passenger side. I decided to take the full unit out also so I stripped back the door card n'all. The wing mirror on it's own (electric) is just shy of 2kg. I was quite supprised at the weight of the door card actually but it's a luxury I am not prepard to do without...
...just yet ;)!
Anyway, watch this space...

Steve if you sort some nice carbon mirrors count me in for a group buy.

You may get a look on Wednesday ;)
Just in case I don't pull my finger out before Wednesday where does the law stand on no mirrors what so ever?
-
Personally, I wouldn't be on the road, bit risky. Can't you put the originals back on for the evening?
-
No probs, got all sorted tonight ;)
-
Not finished but couple of pics here...

Not to my taste, but each to their own! As long as your happy :)
I like the headlights though, are they the carbon fiber one? Was thinking of ordering myself a set, how much did they set you back? Have you got a link for them?
-
Yeh, I like em :). As for the light I don't have any contact details. Bought them a couple of years ago for a smidge over £200 I recall. They are just fiberglass thought and the lamps are crap. They change the front end though. I'm getting them repainted in Satin Black along with the bonnet & mirrors next week. I'm am hoping it looks good. :-\
-
Satin black is the colour I considered respraying mine, very smart 8)
