Lo all. is it normal for a crate to bubble in the expansion tank after a 70 mile round trip? It bubbles but doesnt spit out any coolant, when I say coolant, I mean water as there is virtually no coolant in it!!
-
mate if the waters just going round the system and it isnt losing any it shouldnt be a problem :)

What condition is the rad cap in?
-
rad cap seems fine chris, i have new one on my other rad so ill test it 2morrow. Im seriously thinking of going back to ma70 supras mate.

Any car of this age, circa 1990, is going to take a while to get the teething problems sorted. When I first got mine, it took ages to sort the cooling, as soon as one hose went and I replaced it, then the next one would go. I replaced pretty much every hose just for peace of mind.
Any performance car is going to need some tlc and time when modding, as I'm sure you know. There are many times when I have looked at mine when it has been sat in the garage and spat any given fluid out for any given reason, from any given orifice, and I have thought 'why do I do it?' Then I start it up and get out for a few miles and I get the 'smile' and all is well with the world.
Cheers

i know where youre coming from mate, its just since i got into 4's and away from supras i have not had a running car and untold number of issues. Ive spent a lot of money and I have nothing to show for it really.
-
After a sniff test, thankfully the fluid didnt change colour so Im relatively happy. There is no water in the oil or oil in the water so im reasonably convinced the hg is not the issue. Upon further inspection of the rad cap, its cattle trucked, the spring bit dont spring any more as its missing!! I have deduced that this is the possible source of the problem. So, to combat it, im fitting the 56mm core ally rad, if it fits, then swapping out the turbo for my low mileage ct26, which inturn will be bolted to my shiny tubular manifold, ill be bolting my aussie decat to the back of my turbo and finishing it all off with my blue flame system. That should start to put a smile on my face.

sounds like you're onto something good there mate
