went out to get some petrol for the four tonight as i think the 4wd may be needed for the weekend.
anyhow thought i'd pop into maccy d's to pick up a couple of mcflurrys, and promptly drove into a nice big curb hidden in the dam snow
got a nice rubbing/knocking noise from the n/s/f and the steering wheel wobbles a good'en now ....toss!
oh well...lol
-
That sucks big time, sorry to hear that :(
-
im gutted for you man, i know how it feels lol. have you taken the wheel off to look for anything obvious?
-
not done anything with it yet, not really got any tools at home.
the wheel does look slightly pushed back towards the wheel arch, may have bent the lower arm a bit and/or budged the subframe back a bit. it still drives if i need it, albeit a bit ropey...lol
might plod it up to work monday morning and have a look then.
-
sounds like it should be an easy fix with some parts off a donor car. out of curiosity more than anything, is there any damage to the wheel, like any cracks or flat spots?
-
not entirely sure yet....i've just spent the day on the sofa in the warm lol.
i'll have a little look tomorrow, need to make sure the rubbing isnt the wheel hitting the my caliper. haven't got the dosh for new wheels if it is :(
i'll keep you updated.

Sue Mc'ds for hiding kerbs with snow on there premesis, remember there is always someone to blame! ;D

That's bad news Pete >:(
Tho I did find this:
http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Uk/uk.legal/2007-08/msg05471.html (http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Uk/uk.legal/2007-08/msg05471.html)
I know it's not identical but in principle it may be worth a try on the basis of 'lack of a safe environment'?
Cheers

lol, bloody american attitude!
-
had a quick inspection today and looks like ive buckled the wheel quite badly. the rubbing /knocking is indeed the wheel hitting my nice caliper :(
i'm guessing the wheel wobble is also associated with the rubbing. looks like it needs a new wheel/set of wheels and possibly a lower arm.
hhmmm, decisions decisions. ???

Pete i have a set of stock 185 rims in the garage you could borrow ;), actually thinking about it...they probably wouldnt go over your big brakes anyhow :-[ ?
-
cheers for the offer clive, but i need 17" rims to go over brake calipers.
-
lol, bloody american attitude!
Well, it was McDonalds after all ;)
-
I hope you still got to eat the McFlurries.
-
lol nah, just limped straight on past and went home :D
-
sorry to hear the bad news pete :(
You are a better man than me, once my car turns into a mc donalds thats it, wild horses couldnt prevent me from eating myself silly.
On reflection, Gaz would probably stop me as he would no doubt have got there before me and ate them out :D :D
-
mate done the exact same thing today with his e60 530d snitzer kitted motor, but he came alot worse as he wrecked a set of 20" genuine snitzer wheels and a whole load of suspension parts.......
-
ouch! :o
been scouting the bay for some team dynamics pro race wheels...bit tempted lol.....must resist :D
