I am definately feeling this.
-
get it bought........
-
Still in negotiations. ;)
3SGZE anyone?
-
or if you were feeling adventurous then maybe 3s-gtze? why opt for either tubby or 'charger when you could use both!

Because the plumbing would be immense and the gains IMHO aren't worth it.
-
oooh very shiny, you going for it Baz?
-
Not sure the gains from a SC are worth it either, having spent time looking into it a lot. I'd be really interested to see how it drives, im sure it would be a drivers car rather than a drag/dyno car for sure.

The exhaust manifold...... :o

so are you gunna buy it or sit in gizz for ever?
-
Seriously considering it at the moment. Although the full kit is circa £11,000. And as the supercharger displaces 2.9litres of air per revolution, I think a fully built 2.2 would be best, which then begs the question, even though the kit is marketed specifically for the 3sgte, would a higher compression ratio be best? Current trials on a 2.0 have resulted in just shy of 500lbs of torque so what then would a 2.2 be like?
On top of which the restoration has cost a wee fortune and its not painted yet, although it is close another two weeks of work should leave it painted but minus a front bumper.
Decisions decisions.
-
You come into some money or does Santa owe you ? ;D
-
I am looking at it like this, 165 plus restoration plus engine build plus the bits'n'pieces needed to support 450/500ft lb is going to work out at near £20,000, which is damn near to what my dream car costs. So do I bog all the money into the 165 or say f*&k it and bog all my money into an Integrale?
Like I said, decisions decisions.

You'll want a suspension re-jigging after fitting that to the front, must weigh 20+kg with associated metalwork! ;D

lol come to think of it, its probably barely more than the weight of a ct26 with the cat and cast iron manifold ;)
-
lol, theyre not QUITE that heavy, but not far off true :)

Oh dear, that's a bit harsh, I think you need to do some more research.
Entire assembly is 8lbs heavier than stock, but that is offset with the weight being moved behind the engine, I.E. between the axels.
-
Only 4Kg heavier - not bad! :D Didnt put too much research into it as it was an off-hand chuckle ;)
Behind the engine, that'll be a nice tidy solution I have to say, though its still up front so it does still act the same way even if it is behind the axles! Though at 4kg extra it wont make too much difference in total :)
It'll be a tight squeeze between the manfold and xfer box?
-
Its closer to 3.5kg which I can offset with a boot mounted battery.
All in all, I don't think the car will weigh more, although tbh, it doesn't worry me in the slightest. Also considerinjg an electric waterpump and powersteering rack to clean the engine up a bit.
-
Mmmm sounds like a nice plan.
-
This will make a wicked 'four mate. 8)
Do you have any pictures of the resto so far?
-
Currently, photos are in the region of 160 or thereabouts.
I have some nice wee custom touches planned. I got the Toyota spoiler modified so its got a slight duck-tail, got some arches made and am now playing with a mitsubishi evo front bumper.
I'll be ghosting in some TTE logos too when its painted. Gort some AZEV A on 5x114 for it too.
-
sounds really cool mate. which evo is the bumper off of?
-
Evo 5. Its 70mm too wide and there are some other issues, but thats all part of the craic. A Scoobaru WRX bumper probably would have been a better starting point as theres is only 4mm of difference but doesnt have the big intercooler cut out.
-
I love the look of the Evo 5 will go well with the lines of the four too, will be really cool and original when its finished.
-
Yep, Paul_GT4 may be a crying whinny lil biotch, but he has been great. A good sounding board for my ideas, although the orange thingy does cast doubt on his taste. ;D
-
haha have to say, i'm loving this wee project and travelling all over the country organising bits for it, really looking forward to seeing it on the road
