Title: Possibly breaking CS
Post by: Wiggy on December 03, 2008, 12:11:53 pm
Hi all

After trying to sell the CS for some time now, its looking highly unlikely its going to sell in the near future. Its a real shame with it just passing its MOT but I can't give the car away either, so I may have to break it to A) get the money from it I need and B) Get it shifted off my drive ASAP.

Below is a basic list of parts from the car, obviously its complete, so if there is something not listed, let me know via PM what you want.

Engine (bare) long motor - block and head £500
Turbo £150
Inlet manifold £50
Throttle body £50
Stainless 3" DP £50 Bazz
Stainless zorst £200
Gearbox £200
Complete intercooler setup £200
Ported and polished manifold with bill for almost £300 to have it done £100
Volk 16" TE37 rims with very very good Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres bought from Jeff £350
Rear Diff (LSD) £150
Bonnet £350
Front Bumper complete with grills etc £100
Wings £100 each
lights (Pair) With Raybrig lenses and HID kit £150
Full Leather interior with door cards £350
Engine loom £70
ECU £75
Doors with glass £100 each
Power steering pump £50
Steering rack £100
Radiator £75
Tailgate with glass £100
Complete carpet set with boot £100
Rear lights £30 each
Rear bumper £40
Electric aerial (working) £30
Momo Corse steering wheel with boss £50
Leather TRD Gear knob £10
HKS Turbo timer £35
Samco induction hose set £50
Blitz Active clutch and flywheel (don't know miles - was fitted last year) £250 Driveby or salvageman
Front brake calipers £100 pair with new pads
Rears £75 the pair
Struts with springs £80 fronts and £80 rears

If I think of anything else (which I'm sure I will) I'll add it to the list.

If you want anything, let me know and I'll stick your name down for it. Again, I don't really want to have to do this, and stripping a car in the cold and wet isn't something I'd choose to do but needs must and it has to go...

If I've missed anything, ask...

I can't start stripping until most of the bigger bits have gone so I'll stick a quick spread sheet together with who wants what.

Cheers

Car is Red and so is Samco

TRD knob is in good order and is black leather (round ball type) with TRD logo in the top. Think Fennies sell them for about £20

I'm in need of a front driveshaft, right hand side. Does it have ABS? How many miles are on the clock? Boots ok?
Think replacing it is cheaper than fixing it (CV joints gone I'm afraid).  :)

124 on the clock m8, driveshafts look OK and no clunks. £45

Leave it with me though as I may keep them as spares for my car, still thinking about it  ;)

heart attack ain't the words for it, this car is far toooooooo good to break and i'm surprised it sat for so long with no one snapping it up, as it was well under priced by wiggy, i'm sorry to hear it has to be done.

I wish someone would buy the car as i would love to have it back and bazza has been on to me for the last month to buy it as my daily driver and use the faff as a weekend or summer car but i don't have the money atm. Next year could be a different story as i'll either be having a sainz or an altezza as my daily driver.

Hi Cee, Yes it is harsh but cars ain't selling and I need the cash and the space...  :(

Leather is mint apart from a bit of wear on the drivers bolster as you would expect. No rips etc though... ;)

Wiggy mate please dont break this car its far too good for that. I know needs must when times r hard but there is a buyer out there for your car. maybe just take it to a few local meets or japfest at castle coombe in may. I would love too own a gt4 as nice as your one but for now i have my own one too sort out, and as you know selling one is not a quick way to get some money together to buy another one or else i would.
Just as a thought for you i spent about four months looking at them before i got my 185 and went far and wide too ended up getting it from preston and i live in essex. It was 16 hours door to door as i looked at one in blackburn on the same day.
I guess what i am trying too say is dont give up you dont want to be out there breaking apart your pride and joy in the cold and wet. Think how it is going feel breaking it down and shipping bits off to us scavengers who need bits for or own cars (mine needs brakes all round and some wheels and tyres).
From what i can tell from other peoples comments this car is a real good one and will only become better as its getting rarer all the time due to people breaking them up and so on.
Sorry for the little rant but you have a true gem of a car and its going to make someone very proud soon.

Keep trying mate it will sell  ;)

So sad to see that another Cs could possibly be broken :(
When cars like escort Cossies are going for crazy money its a crying shame that someone wont pay much for a car that has true rally pedigree.

Sorry for not replying to people asking about parts but I may have found a buyer for it  :) I've got to change the thermostat tomorrow because the last one decided to start acting up on the way to Manchester over Christmas. Luckily it still worked and didn't jam shut so it never overheated...phew

A guy has been seriously interested in the car since I had it listed on eBay a while ago and we have sort of agreed on £2600 for the car, which is MILES lower than I wanted for it but I really do have to get rid ASAP

I'll keep you posted if it goes and who it goes too...

All the best and happy new year  ;D

Glad to hear its not being broken.
Good luck with the sale. Funny how the original |Celica GT4s are still holding their value (low and all as it is) while the later cars that were made for upgrades are in free fall. Or maybe I am just a wee bit biased?

They are still not fetching anything like what they should though IMO...

165's now are like rocking horse poo and they still don't really fetch a lot, its madness when you look how much the 70's rot box and slow Celicas sell for.... I don't understand it :-\
