I can't understand how the people running the country get in? What is the world coming too? Well this country anyway...
Dunno if you have seen this but its crazy.
Subbject: The Red Arrows: the government won't let them fly 2012
Please forward this to as many people as possible!!!
The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed 'too British'. Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be 'offensive' to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team has performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team 'too militaristically British.' Red Arrows pilots were said to be 'outraged', as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being 'too British' is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain.
The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world.
The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular.
It is to be hoped that common sense prevails. If you disagree with this decision, sign the petition on the link
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/RedArrows2012/?ref=redArrows2012
Forward this on to everyone you can.
What the hell is this country coming to?
Regards

ROFPML......Funniest thing I've seen since last weekends antics.
How did you people ever govern an empire?
And don't forget you lot voted for them.
I bet Winston is turning in his grave.
-
Do you have foreign nationals making legislation in the civil service?
I think I'd start there.
-
Its f-ing madness, I can't believe what is happening to this country.
I visit China a lot with work and considering they live in a communist state, they have more freedom that we do FFS.
rant over.... ;)
-
You were not ranting, its fact. This country sucks at the moment.
I suppose next thing will be covering up all the large military monuments in London in case anybody remembers this country once had a back bone >:(

Think this could be a load of old cobblers ;D
On 15 September, UK redtop The Sun caused a bit of a rumpus by announcing that display team the Red Arrows had been banned from "performing at the 2012 London Olympics as they are too BRITISH" (tabloid outrage caps, nothing to do with us).
The "barmy organisers" apparently claimed the RAF's finest "might offend other nations" - an assertion which prompted one flyboy to declare: "We have been simply blown away by this decision. For years we have talked about performing a display at the Olympic Games and how magnificent it would be. It never crossed our mind we would be banned from the event."
The only problem with this splendid story was that it was a load of old cobblers. The powers that be moved with lightning speed to quash the rumour.
Red Arrows spokeswoman Rachel Huxford clarified: "We have had no discussions about the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics whatsoever. We are still planning our 2008 season at this stage and that is a long way off. We understand that no decision has yet been made about the ceremony. We performed when London won its Olympic bid in 2005 after we received a standard request from the Olympic organisers."
Well, we spotted this piece of silliness at the time, but thought nothing more of it. What had escaped our notice, though, was how the might of The Sun could mobilise no less than 165,000 people to sign a petition "to Allow the Red Arrows to Fly at the 2012 Olympics".
Despite the facts, people were apparently still expressing their discontent on 27 September, when Her Maj's Gov was obliged to counter with: "This allegation is not true. The Government has not banned the Red Arrows from the London 2012 Olympic Games. The organising committee of London 2012 will decide what to include in the Opening Ceremony and other celebrations - but with almost five years to go, decisions are yet to be made on what these will look like."
Rather agreeably, for those among you who think this is a cover-up and that the government will replace the Red Arrows with a rainbow squadron of mixed races and faiths flying carbon-neutral paper aircraft, the petition is still open. Democracy 2.0? We love it. ®

The country doesn't just suck at this moment Doc, it sucks all the time!!
and its just getting worse, there isn't a day goes by that some ar*ehole comes up with

I've had enough of all this PC crap and make a point of saying blackboard etc.

My parents left 4 years ago and have never looked back. ;)

You hoo out there!
There are still some people with a bit of 'common sence' employed as Local Goverment officers and we are trying to educate the 'elected members'.
then again.... I am being offered redundancy and if I get it....suck it, you mugs can get someone else elected to do what you want.
I'm out of it :)
Use your VOTE!!!!!!!!!!

I can't see me being in the UK for much longer....I'll give it a couple more years and I'm off ;)
-
from what i'm seeing over here in zante is alot of british people moving over here on a permanent basis and running business exploiting the tourist industry fair play to them i say and as for the red arrows thats a serious joke if the decision stays, i watched them a few years back and the skill taken to fly those jets is unreal. Hope the decision changes.

Rest of the world isnt so hot, I'd not be in such a rush to leave. Everyone harps on about how nice NZ or Oz are to live in, but strangely I know 3 people who have gone and come back 5 or 6 years later having found its very similar to here, and worse in a few ways. Depends what you go for I suppose!

go to a proper foreign country where you cant speak the lingo - liek russia where its soo different you have little chance of learning it properly or reading it either. that way you are exempt from all the politics and the crap the TV/Radio/Papers spurt out and you can live in your own little isolated world and think everyone is ace. a bit like the olden days i guess. it's the only way.
