Title: Many thanks to RobbieMcVee
Post by: paul_gt4 on August 04, 2008, 01:42:10 am
Got my new donated block from Robbie tonight, couldn't be happier as it looks to me in really good nick, i can't thank the man enough. When word got out that i was having problems with my new orange faff with pistonslap, and i couldn't use the original block, Robbie was straight on the pm's offering me his spare (not many people like ya buddy) which had intended for rebuilding in his own car in the future (When you find a replacement block let me know so i can get the cheque book out). Darren a guy from the jon44w.com forum i'm also on was over at USC at Santa Pod and he gladly went down to Robbies and collected the block for me and threw it in a RS Focus (his friends car as his bug eye impreza was getting alot of work done and his friend don't know he had the best part of an engine in the boot lol) and travelled back to Belfast where i met him tonight. Its like christmas all over again as this was the only thing holding me back atm from progressing. I would like to thank Robbie for doing this as i know he didn't have to offer me the parts and i am whole heartedly grateful for him doing this, i would also like to dedicate this to the club as if i weren't on here i wouldn't have met a guy like him. I'm glad there are people out there who do donate parts and their time to helping others with their fours, and one sure thing it makes me well proud to be part of this club.

Have a big up Mr Jones!!!!!

i think you seen me drive too so we're kinda alike there, and a little update on mr jones block it was fully stripped last night with every nut and bolt removed, power washed this morning and dried with an airline, then cleaned with thinners and a brush, then it got a little heat treatment to make sure all water was removed from the veins and waterways before it got a good roasting for the 1st coat of etch primer, it took 3 coats to cover and every one was heated for a good hard finish, decided after speaking to many people that 2pack paint was a better option as it gave me more variety in colours than heat tempered paint so guess what colour i deceided to go for, (not pink chris) well keeping in line with mr bartolo's ideas of the irn bru theme colour matched perfect to the can i bought today) it had to be the 2pack blue with a little metallic flake added for good measure, the block looks awesome and looks like its brand new......... the only person who can tell you how dirty and grimey the block was, was robbie as i never took pics of it before hand but its baking in the oven there now as i type this so pics will come tomorrow. I'm well proud of it. Now have the same paint for the rocker cover.

You have to bring it to JAE now, it's the law ;D ;D ;D ;D The colour you describe with the fleck sounds like an FTO I saw a few years ago, it does look smart ;)

its not really a fleck in comparison to what i have on the womans puma, more just a metallic similar to the irn bru can, it'll just be a bit different as everyone seems to go for a base colour i.e matt black
