I wouldnt say "tw@y" - but a bit pointless IMO. Cash better spent on making the car lighter and faster, people with private plates will obviously not agree with me :). The public without private plates generally would take option 1, theyd see an older car with meaningless (to them) arrangement of a few letters and wonder why you bothered.

Each to his own though, I'm all for freedom of errr mods.

a good plate is worth having if it is relevant to a car like "LAM 8O" or "TUR8O" or something mint like that.  however these cost way too much and therefore aren't worth it.

A private plate thats meaningful to me eg W325ANM with ANM being my initials is just a waste of time.  If it's a bit more personal like I know a guy called John Brennan who married Val in 1976 who has VJB 76 on an old roller.  now thta's just nice cos the roller works with the old plate, and it's personal without being showy.

But if i got A444NDY then I would be a complete cheapskate tosspot.  However 4NDY would make me cooler than a snowman's cold bits.

It's a fine line I guess.

well the plate i'm planning on getting is relevant to the car, and i think it will make a difference to the look of the car as well, also my womans plate looks meaningless but to the people who know her as its her nickname....... trying to get a company over here now to do as it costs more to do it here with dvla (Eng, Scot, Wales governing body) plates being put on dvlni (N Ire governing body)  cars over here get charged an extra 100 odd quid just to have the plate processed, probably the same for yous if you took a NI plate over there

I echo Redbeasts quote word for word.

BTW our lass has L666LMR on her PT Cruiser. She likes devil stuff hence 666 and LMR are her initials. Not my cup of tea but she is happy enough

I think he is actually after B4 RGE

As said it is a fine line. All I need is an Irish plate with GAZ in which is readily available and reasonably cheap...but twatty :-[

same way i have to go about getting a prefix plate, contact the dvlni in coleraine and inquire or speedyreg.co.uk, i know its the same procedure where you have a £100 transfer fee as the plate in registered to a different licencing body like if i was to buy a prefix from over there.......
