On the hunt for a set of 7x17inch wheels for my ST165.
Looking for something period and wanted to stay away from the Compomotive MO wheel.
So I went out and purchased a copy of MAX Power from 1993 to see what kind of rims were on offer back then.
:-\ The biggest rim advertised in the magazine was a 16 and there were only two styles of wheel at that. However I did notice that the Compomotive CX range was out at that time, so on to compomotive I go, and this is what I have come up with......

What do you think? My car is black.

3rd rim, stunning, plus it was a rim of that era
-
They all were available in the early 90's.
I really wanted a set of TH1's but they don't come in 7x17.
What do you think about the ML's, like a twin cam for big boys?
-
nah was watching a movis there the other night that had an old 67 fastback mustang with big rimmage and low profiles on, just didn't look right, superlite style rims are for 13" & 14", not any bigger
-
definitely the 3rd and i'd get it sprayed white but each to there own :)
-
nah i'd be keeping it silver for a black car to be honest especially a 165, 185's can get away with it with the more modern looks but 165's should be keep simple looking
-
Gold? For a John Player Special theme?
-
am NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

-
you do it on yours sure as a test run and let us know how it looks
-
Hmmmm, gold alloys? I've seen those on..........oh what car was it? I think it was blue ;)
-
yeah exactly chris, scrap that toyota now own ffs
-
third rim the best
if it was me, white wheels even on a black car.
as for the gold wheels - lol - we had a bloke's car in last week. when he phoned and booked he explained that he had gold wheels, and could we paint them black. I told him we take great pleasure in painting gold wheels ANY other colour. i also guessed it was a scooby without him telling me!
-
there is a guy on another site here selling a black 185 with gold speedlines and its just a NOOOOOOOO from me, especially cause they're scooby rims

-
they're a tidy rim too, what price are they, and is the 165 capable of taking an 8" rim clearing all the arches (inner and outter)
-
:o :o :o £810 plus VAT and carraige and tyres.
-
3rd rings definitley, but have you ever thought about black rims with a chrome outer ring.
Don't know if anyone agrees but I think these look really tidy, especially on a black car?
-
yeah maybe andy on a rounder or more euro looking car, but i think i'll hold my tongue til i see them
