It has been down since last Tuesday unfortunately.

I understand that Rob is on the case and it should be back up and running soon.

Click where it says 'HERE' up there^^^
It'll take you to another post ;)

As for a decent sprayer...depends how much you want you want to spend really.

I know a GREAT place in Bradford called GA Spence. Not the cheapest but very very good 8)

It's only an hour and a bit from Nottingham ;)

"As for a decent sprayer...depends how much you want you want to spend really.".............as little as possible  ;). in honesty depends really initially I want to get rid of the oxidisation and get it relaquered. but would consider a coat of red over the top first or if it was less than a grand a full spray pref in a nice colour but in reality just want the car looking like she did when she was new rather than a lighter shade of pink ::). An hour up the road aint a prob

Smithy's in Nottingham, might be worth trying him at Toyauto Centre - 01159787844 or http://www.toyautocentre.co.uk and he may know a local guy.

Cheers

There a place in Huthwaite (near Suttin-in-Ashfield) called P&L Bodyworks (or soemthing similar)

Very good sprayers, insurance approved, but will do cash in hand jobs as well if you speak nicely to them.

:(  Just to return to the point about the OC being down, I had an email just before it went down saying I had a new private message but now I can't find out who it was or what it was about.  (It got me all excited to......I don't get many PMs.....it might have been important......probably be a disappointment when the sites back up and I find out it was sent to the wrong person or something....)

Yo dude, dt4 Northern area rep from the OC here.

In keeping with my position of responsibility my official line is we are awaiting a new psu for the server.

My personal view is that its extremely dissappointing to say the least that it has been going on for over a week, that we have been saying the same thing since Monday and that we have not had any news on progress.

If I knew it was a case of getting part X to place Y I would have got in my car picked it up and delivered it, no *BLEEP*ing problem. Maybe I dont know the full ins and outs which is a problem in its self.

DT4, do you get any updates from them at all?

I just think its crazy its been shut down for over a week & unless you gave anyone the snippets of info you have given nobody would know anything!!!

There has to be more than meets the eye with this one I think  :o

Id sooner not speculate and this must not turn into a OC slating post as both me and the EC admin would dissappointed by that but as far as I know the psu was supposed to arrive Monday but didnt, it was then expected Tuesday. Beyond that, I dont know maybe it hasnt solved the problem.

I hope to get on msn tonight and with a bit of luck I will catch some other staff on there and we might find out what the latest state of play is.

Assumably they have a maintenance contract with someone who provided the server, so why haven't heads been rolling.

My line of business is providing IBM servers to the NHS, and if we had a site down for this long, the *BLEEP* would hit the fan in an unbelievably bad way.  I think it's pretty pi$$ poor to be honest, from a support view of the situation.  And if there is a contract in place, i'd be seriously considering taking the matter further, and getting some compensation for it.  No PSU shopuld take a week to arrive.  You could fetch it from the supplier, and physically walk to the server in that time.

What type of servers are they using, do we know ???  if it's any of the main favourites, such as IBM, Compaq, Dell, etc, then they should have replaced it a long while ago.

I accept that and I wasnt trying to turn it into a slating post, I has hesitant about posting to be honest as I accept the EC shouldnt be used to slate the OC or anyone else.

But you are a man of good contact in the OC so thats why I asked the question?

 ;) ;D

Unfortunately I honestly think this will have an adverse effect on OC member numbers  :'( but a positive effect on EC & DC member numbers  ;D especially with it being the beginning of the show season and there are group buys etc. going on/coming to an end and people wont know what's happening.

I'm not an IT bod but can it be that hard to put a message up saying something like "sorry about the problems, the site will be back up ASAP"?

Nathan

Hi there everyone,

1st I would just like to say how great this forum is looking now and love lots of the features it contains and wish you all success with it in the future 8)

Now onto the OC, I have had a very difficult time trying to contact Rob as he has been having trouble with his house move internet connection and has also changed his job within the last few weeks meaning access at work is non-existant also. When I finally caught up with him on sunday I was told that the power supply was stuffed and a new one was ordered and due for delivery on tue/wed. This didnt happen and I have since tried to contact him again today but to no avail.

The server is in his old office and therefore may be hard for him to access right now with work commitments etc but I like all of you am very annoyed that we can do nothing to remedy this situation and I will make provisions for multi access so this never happens again, we knew these few weeks would be hard to manage as a few staff have very busy work/private lives at the mo. I for one am having the move from hell and the forum is sometimes given 2nd place to other stuf that I deem more important at the time, but please be assured I and many others are doing the best we can with the limited info available to us.

I have learnt a big lesson thoughout this and things will be alot different when we go back online.

Sorry again for all those that have suffered during the loss of the forum and I hope we can get back to the normal banter very soon.

Kind regards

Bazza

Bazza,

Thanks for taking your time to post this up and inform people about exactly what is going on.

I wish you all the best in getting this sorted. I'm sure you're pulling your hair out over it as are many others.

Thanks for the compliments too. All credit goes to Robbie for the site/forum as he has put A LOT of effort into it and its development 8)

right guys i'm not bias towards any club, ive got friends on both clubs. Both clubs are good to go on for different reasons and the oc is where i originally met everyone a couple of years back.BUT

The oc needs to come upto modern times and get a lot quicker and more upto date . If not it'll be left behind . The ec is taking a giant leap forward and it shows.well done everyone in the ec.

guys in the oc,  come on lets now get professional.

The OC actually own their server and Rob has control of it - so basically Rob has total control of the OC :-\ :-\ .............. if Rob is not around when things go wrong then the OC goes Tits up (as it has at the moment )  ::) ::)

Nice site EC by the way  ;) ;) ;)

Yes.
Thanks to Bazz for update.
I find I am splitting time between the two sites and POB's google thingy site is holding its own. I never got into DC but EC and OC have each their own styles and I'll bet most mebers of both log in to each other.
No wars only progress together please.
A 4 is a 4 is a 4 is a 4 is a 4 etc. :)

I have spoken to Rob tonight and the position is that he has a replacement PSU but the server is not at his new place of work. Due to his new job abd moving house he has not been able to get to the server to fit the PSU. He expects to be able to get to it either over the weekend or Monday.
I will keep my fingers crossed.

It would appear we have an official OC backup which I just found by accident.

http://groups.google.com/group/temp-gt4oc-board?hl=en

All credit to the individual OC staff members trying to pick up the pieces with no means of cross communication. This is like something out of the movies after a global disaster with failure of all the technology we have come to rely on.
