OK, so we're thinking about investing in a cheap 4x4 to join my friend/family in a bit of green laneing (sp?)
So far on the short list is anything that has an axle height higher than the fours roofline and has 4x4.
Who has had what or suggests what?
We're only looking to spend up to a grand for the base and then a few bob on 'extras'
So far the Land Rover discovery and the Range Rover seems to be comin g out favourite (they are/were British built after all ;))

stuff british built, land cruiser all the way stick with your loyalties

subaru justy.
just your style :)

If it's only green laning, then it doesn't matter much. Best 4x4 is a landy, no question. My next door neighbour builds off roaders for a hobby, mental strange rovers, mad landys and evil discos. will take some pics when I have time, just sold the 1954 series one I had to him - no doubt be a v8 in it shortly. 8)
If you want a cheap one that's spot on though Dee is selling her Jeep Cherokee 2.5 TD LTD ED, ideal for your purposes Gaz and we'll do you a good deal. PM me for more info or give me a bell - you have my mobly. ;)
She's looking for a sporty Jap if anyone fancies a swap - ST202, ST203 (lol), or a FTO seem to be the favourites 8)

Well...after hunting around we finally have one 8)
It's a Vitara :o ;D :-[ :-[ :-[
OK, it's an R reg, tested, 2 lady owners, absolutely un-mollested (apart from a Clarion 'casette' player :o) and only 74k (genuine by the looks of it too)
There is a bad gouge (sp?) on the passenger side rear but I reccon it I knock it out the motor will look at least 95% straight ;) ;D
All that for 700 quid which I thought wasn't too bad ;)
Still leaves me enough in the pot to tinker about with it and get some good grippy rubber on there 8)
