Bought an M5 for a bit of fun
« on: October 02, 2011, 08:05:43 pm »
I bought one of the old E39 model cars with the 5 litre V8 engines. It is mental to drive. Performance is in a different league compared to my 300 bhp gt4. If you floor it in any of the first 3 gears it is like you have been thumped in the back. The torque is immense. For normal driving you dont need to go above 2k rpm and it still pulls ok. It also revs so smooth and fast to the 7k rpm rev limit. Everything about it is awesome, the handling, performance, interior quality and comfort. The best bit was it only cost me £5k. Highly recommended if anyone fancies a change. I'm keeping my gt4 for winter though as rwd is useless on snow and ice.
Its the same colour and looks like this car..

To be fair it has 35hp more and about 10% fewer driveline losses - I'd hope it was faster! :)
