Xbox or PS3?
« on: November 19, 2009, 09:33:07 pm »
Looking to buy one after Chrimbo, which is best and why?

Always had a PS1-PS2 so the PS3 is temping me more. But the Xbox is cheaper and loads of games........ :-\

There are some games which are exclusive to each format, so you need to know what you want to play, and whether the bluray player on the ps3 is a factor to you. I have an xbox elite, which I have had for nearly 2 years, and I think it's great. The 'red ring o death' happened twice, but you are covered for 3 years with no hassle postal repair if it happens. I would hope they've sorted this on the newest versions.

Answer... both are good.  :D

yeah my sister has been through several rings of death and the latest did it for her and she's moved on.
I know a few other owners as well that suffered, so the reliability seems typically Microsoft, but almost £100 cheaper (not for the elite though, I think that is still £200 isn't it?)

There was an advert on tonight for the Elite with games and another controller for £189 I think... I can't remember what shop though.

I've never played a PS3, having only read info on techie sites etc. The bluray aspect would be tempting if I was in your position I suppose, but I love my xbox as a games console, media hub, comms device and dvd player in one.

360 boy here, had mine for 3 years now, no rings of death.  I flashed it the same day I bought it and have been playing games for free ever since  ;D
PS3's new price does look tempting though, saw them in Sainsburys for £200...

WOW I think @ £200 I'll have to have a stab at the PS3, the price has always stopped me buying in the past and the Xbox has always temped me due to it being cheaper. But as you say, the blue ray is tempting, had my HD tv for 3 years now and never used it....lol
Hmmm....January sales to come as well.... they may even drop further in the new year ;)

im looking at ps3 when funds allow.
Free 'live' gaming, internet access, bluray player. Only down point ive found is the 15 year old controllers.
And at £200 you cant argue really. Roll on xmas  ;)
