Doc will think there is a bit of porn on at the end of that thread......... some nice pics there, well you certainly took enough of them, not fond of the lazy eye pics but each to their own........ and by the way your smaller vents are the wrong way around they're supposed to face backwards, when my ata was painted the body man put them on the wrong way and whilst out driving on day alot of water from a heavy down pour got in there and wrecked the alternator so a bit of advice turn them round and face backwards, love the gtt always had a soft spot for them

i've had mixed responses to the way in which they go... some people have said they provide more air to the air filter but also saying its not enough to worry about!! thanks for the advice pal they were like that when i bought her, would like to know more about this if poss??

they definately go the other direction and it makes no odds as the car came originally with a closed airbox and its not designed to let more air in its there to let heat out

yeah its simple enough 8mm nuts (i think) but your right will go on the left side this time and vice versa for the holes to line up right

Looks like a cracking day out, and you got some good weather there as well. Make sure you get them in the gallery ;)

Cheers

i've always had my nearside vent forward facing to help scoop a little cool air onto the air filter, and my offside vent facing backwards as it was meant to be.

how did you do that peter as if one is on the right way around the other won't line up with the holes unless you got on off another bonnet, they were designed to be both facing backwards and as stated previously it has no or little effect for the air filter, it was designed for engine bay heat extraction, a new 185 came with a closed airbox so toyota never had this in mind for aftermarket parts

there not sided, you just unbolt them and spin them round and bolt em back up.

i know toyota designed them for heat extration, and it had a closed airbox as stock.

i turned mine round after i fitted my hks intake kit, and thought well every little helps  :)

i never noticed any detrimental effects from doin that little mod, twas quita a popular little mod back in the day..lol

well mines was sided, as the pins were diagonal to each other and they wouldn't fit it they were put on the wrong side and if your putting them on wrong, like my body work man did, water falls directly onto the alternator, causing a failure like mines did on the old ata

i've not touched the offside vent paul, so no worries of water onto the alternator.

thnking about it the vents maybe sided, but you can spin each vent on it's relevent mounting, i'll have a look later. i just unbolted the n/s one spun it round and done it back up and it fits perfectly.

i've got me camera with me today so i'll take a little piccy of it.

i've got a fibreglass cs replica bonnet to go on it, as it's front monted intercooled now...well will be when it runs...lol
