Righty peeps - time to throw a some pennies at the RNLI. Some of us ( you know who you are! ) have been rescued already, the rest of us should realise we might need it in the future should things go the way of the pear. So with that in mind I decided to take part in a charity ride (Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool) and instead of raising money for their chosen charity I ticked the box for "own charity". Despite being very tempted to claim that I was my own charity I eventually organised :
http://www.justgiving.com/jamesbuckleFor every tenner donated the RNLI (with giftaid) gets 11.75 - better and easier than me organising it myself. Remember it costs, on average, £5500 every time one of the all-weather lifeboats is launched - and none of that is government funded, and its staffed primarily by volunteers. I'm aiming to recoup 1/55th of that, but I'd love to get closer to the whole amount!
If you can give anything, please do - every 1p counts! I'm donating the comfort of my ass and my legs, and the ability to walk for a week - throw a little bit of your beer money at the service that might save your skin (or that of a watersporty mate) at the weekend!
Cheers all!
