Title: how many times have you done this?
Post by: madgaz on April 28, 2007, 09:09:04 pm
It's your motor history ;D
However...this one has been brought on by Tims video posting.
When seeing clips from the Skipton meet I remembered the XR2i we used to own :o

What cars, and why, do you regret getting rid of?

My motor history is as follows...

...1. Suzuki Bandit 600...looked mint and went/handled well 8)
2. Calibra 2.5 V6...This was my first car. It was crap around corners but 'apparently' my friend had 135mph UP the M606 in it ;D
3. Peugeot 306 2 Ltr XSi Phase 1...Erm...I don't regret getting rid of this :o
4. Peugeot 306 2 Ltr (16 Valves this time) Phase 2...THE best handling car I have EVER driven
5. toyota Celica GT4 ST165...Glad I got rid of this car...it was fooked.
6. As Above...Big end shells had gone so sold it to DT4 for his magic work.
7. As Above the above. Apparently the head gasket had gone but it turned out to be the number 4 piston (well it was in a thousand pieces) so I broke this for spares. Don't regret getting rid of this...it actually made me money ;D
8. My current ST165 JDM...nearly put it up for sale a short while back but the more I clean and polish it the sexier it looks ;D Will hopefully soon be taxed and tested and back on the road 8)
While between 6+7 the bread knife had a Ford Fiesta XR2i...fook did this car handle :o I really really wish we had kept this car and track dayed it. The handling was SUPERB :'( :'( :'( Forever in my heart will this car be :'( :'( :'(

In and amongst this 'personal' collection I have had vaious company vehicles.
It started with...

...1. Bedford Rascal van. This was fookin GREAT until I stoved it into a wall in the ice 8)
2. Ford Courier. Somebody bashed my back doors in on this oo er...
3. Ford Astra Van...no...honestly...it was made of various pieces of other vehicles I'm sure :o
4. ford Mondeo Estate...stuffed the front end into an Astra after 5 days of ownership...OOPS ;D
5. Peugeot 406 Estate...had it 3 years then sent it back to contract hire company.
6. CURRENT...Laguna Estate...not a bad car to be honest :-\

Have listed my cars too many times, its just such a long list, but cars I wish I still owned.

1. Cosworth engined Ford Capri 2.0s, running a N/A cosworth engine on twin 48 carbs, with full Leda race suspensio, cage, and 4 pot brakes. Damn I miss that.
2. Audi 200 Turbo, in white with the full and mega rare Tressor body kit. It was the orginal Audi GB press car, and while not the best to drive, Auto Fwd, it made motorways effortless.
3. My 1380cc reshelled show car mini, imaculate almost concourse condition, and a hoot to drive, shamefully crashed by me :-[
4.Renault 5 gt Turbo, modified to 170bhp at the wheels,it was so unreliable, but when it was working I have never had so much fun behind the wheel of a car ever!!!

I wish I had never sold
1) my V6 convertible Triumph Vitesse
2) my mini cooper 997
3) A pair of 1147 Triumph Spitfires
but mainly 4) a 105e Anglia with full rally prep and a 1500GT motor in it
Not least my best bike, a triumph 350cc T21, stripped & hot.

mazda 323 4X4 turbo,  had a small bump in it and could afford to repair

carlton gsi , dogs dangles loved this car but it was too old

mk1 astra gte , had to totally rebuild it after it burnt out but it wasnt reliable after rebuild , electrical faults.
