Title: Its gotta go :-( (provisionally sold)
Post by: Wiggy on April 03, 2008, 01:35:08 pm
Hi all

After thinking long and hard about this, recent events have made up my mind for me. The Orange 205 has to go to a new home. Anyone that doesn't know about the car, ask anyone in the know GT4 wise and they will tell you its a bute. Its won awards at shows and has been a feature car in Banzai magazine.
I won't list the full spec, otherwise I'd be here all day. In a nut shell its one of thee best 205's on the road today and the engine bay is a work of art. Grab a copy of the Banzai mag it was in and see for yourself. (A copy comes with the car)

Now, when I say recent events making my mind up I simply mean the MOT run out and it failed on emissions. This means its needs mapping up again and I don't have the time and spare cash to get this done. Living in the southwest for a start makes this hard because there is no where round here to do it. The nearest place is Thor racing near brum. They have quoted me a few hundred to fully map it up.
Everything else MOT wise was fine (except the front numner plate being cut down too close to the letters so I've had a new one made up). Its taxed until the end of July.

Now, to even think about buying this car, you MUST e-mail me first (or PM) explaining who you are (if I don't already know you) and your intentions for the car. I have to know it will be looked after. Its going to sell very cheap because I'm not really after making money on the car. I inherted it after my close mate passed away last year. I've kept the car out of respect for him until now, but I can't justify wasting more time and money on something I use very little. Plus, I live quite far from work and it cost a fortune to run for a full week (I tried that one, never again) I'm getting it in the neck from my girlfriend and she thinks one GT4 is enough. Because the white 165 is never getting sold, this means the orange car must go. If it had passed its MOT no worries I probably would have kept it longer because the insurance is paid up for the year anyway. I really don't have the cash and time to be driving up to brum in it though and getting it setup.

Pictures below of the car show it as it currently looks. I will throw in the laptop as well, containing all the maps and software. Also the leads to connect etc etc. I've had a play around myself with trying to perfect the map to pass the MOT, but it needs doing properly on the rollers.

Having said that, it runs perfect and goes like a scalded cat. I've had it light all 4 wheels up in the past in second gear. I think last time it was rolling roaded, it put out about 420bhp @ 1 bar. This was before the 1000cc injectors went in. I currently have the boost set at 1.35 bar. Its a definate 500+bhp car now and may improve. Its a riot to drive and its sooooo hard not to floor it....lol

A bit of history about the car. I bought it originally back in 2001 and owned it for 3 years until I sold it to Paul in early 2004. He had it up until last summer, when it sadly came back to me. I have a wedge of history with the car that goes back to late 90's when it was imported into the UK. Originally it was a Silver WRC model.
It had an oil change about 3 weeks ago with Silkolene Pro S 10W/50 from Oilman and a new oil filter.

On paper its worth a fortune, the engine alone is worth more than most complete cars. its running custom everything and a HUGE garrett. Spools up around 4k and goes on well past 8k. If this were being sold normally I think you'd have to be looking at +10k. Its a 500bhp show car at the end of the day. I'm not expecting anywhere near this.

So, interested parties and I mean SERIOUSLY INTERESTED, please e-mail or PM me with details of who you are, where you are and we'll take it from there. I don't want a bidding war and won't be e-mailing others saying such and such offered me more, so the first serious person to e-mail me with a serious offer and readies ready plus the ability to come and collect it quickly before I change my mind (again) gets it.

Thanks

You had me going there. I was about to put the wife on ebay to finance your 165. (Whew) She would not have been pleased!
Glad its not the 165 as it'd be a tough toss up between that or herself.

Good luck with the sale, looks a lovely motor.

Cheers m8, the 165 wins on this one I'm affraid....lol

That car is with me till I die I recon, or until I trash it, which ever comes first, or they may come together on the Stelvio pass in September...lol

The Orange car is a different animal to the 165 and as much as I love the car, something gotta give  :-\

Thanks

Its an awsome car mate and in many ways better than my 165 but I can't sell that and can't keep them both. Talk about rock and hard place.
I could keep the Orange car and have it just sit rotting on the drive but whats the point? I want it to go to someone who will use it and look after it, thats what Paul would have wanted I think. Like I said in my first post, thats the main reason I've kept it this long really.

Someone will get themselves a real bargain anyway to enjoy for many years to come. And no doubt I'll end up hating them and wanting it back....lol

Ditto Pete, I'd buy this 4 in a heartbeat if I had the money. Someone is going to be sooooooooo happy with it. I was chatting to Cee earlier about an approved list of peeps who would be allowed to own this car, the list is short and confidential before you ask.

Cheers

Hmmmmm this was the car that made me buy a GT4 and I had a picture of it on my wall for ages from Performance & Modified Mag......I have some spare cash but I think it may be more than I have which is a shame. I also dont have enough room for another GT4 at the moment......sigh.

In all seriousness, his ST165 is the only reason that I haven't moved on to an Integrale. Sort of inspiration for mine, although the supercharger is all down to Paul_GT4

Babies....I won't even have them with my girlfriend....lol, thanks for the offer though  :P

I have a few PM's to check but trust me, this car isn't going to just anyone. They have to be known to me or others in the GT4 community and they must have a track record of owning and looking after a GT4. This car isn't for the faint hearted, so some experience of driving a fast 4 would be good as well.

I am currently in talks with Steve Greenald, who (according to most in the DTA mapping world) is the best. Even allan who designed the DTA recons he's the best. If I can, I will get the car down to him but he's in Essex and I'm in Cornwall. I'll let you all know how it goes. Chances are though I won't be able to get it done. A) I don't have time to drive to Eseex and B) money is tight at the moment.

Cheers all, please remember, I'm not after anywhere near what the cars worth. Sensible offers from true enthusiasts are more important to me.

Thanks

Thanks Wiggy! As partly posted in my topic;

I couldn't find brakes with the specs I was after back in '06 (complete story with my findings is on my website), so I decided to ask AP Racing about making a set for the 185. After loads of e-mails and sending OEM parts to the AP Racing headquarters in Coventry, they developed this 6pot 330x32mm kit - I'm proud to say my car features the world's first ever AP Racing Formula big brake kit for the ST185. I went to AP in Coventry in February '07 where the kit was fitted and the final road testing was done. So far it's holding up very nicely and although I haven't run the car on a track yet, both cold/warm performance is really good.

A friend of mine used to run an AP set up (4 pots) on his 185 but he made it up himself using Carina bells I think and 295 rotors.

I want a kit for my 165 (same fits as 185) and this may be the one  ;) Do you have a contact at AP I can get in touch with? Unfortunately I can't go to 330's becasue I'm stuck with 16" Roulettes. I think 300x32 would be sweet enough though for me  :) :) :)

Thanks

wiggy please make sure this goes to the best home possible. i would take it myself but dont think i could drive it. i can only ever imagine paul driving it. it is one of the best gt4s around no expenses spared on it, and always looked after. i helped paul with most of the build on this car. lots of nights spent in the garage to all time of the night. and if he wanted something for it that he could buy paul would design it and custom make it from scratch. it was unbelieveable the stuff paul knew. i always said whoever got that car would have to get a new map made up for it.  please dont try to buy this car if you cant look after it and keep it in the show car condition it is in.

thanks gordon

Spec list.....haven't got the time to write....lol
Price guide to the right buyer - Cheap....Lets just say around the price you'd expect to pay for a good 205, not a fantastic one of a kind 205 thats won shows and been a feature car.....

PM me for more info and I'll do my best to explain about the car in more detail

what happened to the recaros?

They were fooked, almost every foam bolster was split when I removed the covers to replace them. Worked out how much it would cost for the bolsters to repair and its almost as cheap to buy new seats.....lol

That is a STUNNING car :o

Somebody is going to be a very happy individual. There is nothing that I would want to do to a 205 that hasn't been done to that one (and clearly far more on top)...including a gorgeous spray job. Love it.

If it is still 'available' in about 60 years lol I'll be PM'ing you ;D

Good luck with it fella :)

the recaros always seemed ok. did you get the teins fitted that paul bought for it? i take it you are doing the right thing and sending the money that you get for the car up to paul's wee boy ryan?
Title: Re: Its gotta go :-(
Post by: Wiggy on April 16, 2008, 05:11:21 pm
who said I was getting cash for it?? And if I was, what I do with it won't be influenced by what anyone on here thinks I should do with it.
Its for this exact reason that I said the money isn't important when getting rid of this car. What is important, is that it goes to the right person that will use it and look after it. I personally think I have found the right person and you'll have to watch this space on what eventually happens to it.

I could easily advertise it privately and sell it for a lot more than what I'm asking for it. If you think I'm after making money here, you couldn't be further from the truth m8....

If you think them Recaro's were OK m8, there is something wrong. You can clearly see the bolsters (foam) is split and you can push it down on each seat on both sides feeling the metal bar underneath. The main hoop (upper section) costs £58 from Recaro x 2 and the side of leg ones cost £32 x 3 needed. Its not worth fixing them for that money seeing as the fabric isn't exactly 'as new' on the bolster as well. In my opinion, they weren't up to the high standard of the car, so I fitted stock seats back for now, with the intention of buying new recaros later on. I'm sure the new owner will carry this out. Well, I guess that will be up to them when they get it. It will be THEIR car then, not mine, not Paul's and not anyone's on this or any other forum to tell them what they can and can't do to it....

Can't beleive I'm explaining myself here, In some ways, I'll be glad when its gone...
