Another new member from Scotland...
« on: September 27, 2008, 08:09:22 pm »
Hows it going everyone,

Registered here a while back, but never got round to introducing myself.

I'm Matt, living in the highlands of Scotland.

Just been out and about, took some pics of my crate and thought i'd post them.

I've had her for nearly 4 years, no major mods, apart from exhaust, wheels, suspension and some other bit and pieces.  :)

Cheers

WTTC mate, car looks clean.  Wish mine was that clean, or running, or actually had an engine in it!!
Gaffer tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side and it holds the universe together.

There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship"  more than wrinkles in the gaffer tape.....

Cheers guys, but unfortunately since the GT4ec website went down - a lorry pulled into my lane on a dual-carriageway.

The insurance company wrote my GT4 off  :'(

Fortunately I had the option of buying the car back off the insurance company.
Already purchased the wing and door and repairs will start on Monday.  :)

Think the car will have to be registered as a Q-plate once its been repaired and MOT'd - does anyone know if I can stick a private number plate on a vehicle that's registered as a Q plate?

I would check the whole Q plate thing.. I bought mine back from the Ins company as 'write-off' and just put her back o nthe road once she was fixed. The ins company came and re-assessed her after the repair and all was fine.
I think it depends on the write-off category - in your case (as it was in mine) it looks purely cosmetic rather than structural... i think that's the difference....
I could be wrong though :) mind you i have been driving mine around for 4 years since so.... i bloody hope not! :)

It wont be Q'd though it will need to be re MOT'd and the repairs assessed.

yeah it won't be a Q plate for that damage there and what category did they write it off to, C or D, over here D's don't need an MOT or an assessment its just a fix and drive C is a different story though

The external mechanic for the insurance company said it was a Category C writeoff.
He also said that once the repairs were done that it would have to be put through a MOT and also a VC check.

It wont be Q'd though it will need to be re MOT'd and the repairs assessed.

Would be really decent if I didnt have to get it Q-plated.
Got a 1.0L chevy matiz as a courtesy car for 2 weeks after the incident- not really the same as driving round in the GT4  :)
Hopefully get her up and running soon!!
