Post by: dj_russell on July 20, 2009, 02:44:21 am
alright guys just bought an st205 gt four thought id join the forum, and im after a bit of info as to what sparkplugs and grade oil and filter to use???? spark was a spark really on my saxo vts but that had spitfires on even so but im guessing it matters on these type of cars so is irridiums worth the money.

and what grade oil and decent make is best also fully synth or semi???? cars running around or cant be too far off 300bhp im guessing with the mods its got i had posted 240bhp on gt4oc but ive realised that was before the breathing mods and boost controller was fitted and everyone elses seems to make something around that area.

gratefull if any of you guys could help its my 1st turbo 4wd car so im new to all these turbo timers and boost controllers etc...

cheers
jim

Hi Jim, welcome to the club. What plugs and oil have you been using so far? Have you noticed any problems, running hot, misfires?

Cheers

Hi chap welcome to the club.

Theres a guy on here and the oc called 'oilman', he's probably your best bet on asking about oils, plugs etc as he works at Opie oils (check out their website). If your not running much past std then i would stick as close to the stock setup as possible. Think my plugs are Iridium grade 6 and i use 10-40 semi synthetic oil. Although mine is a 185. Im not sure what the 205 folk use.

You should be ok with stock filter, leads and dizzy. Check this link:

http://tcbparts.co.uk/ (http://tcbparts.co.uk/)

Click on the 'service parts' on the left hand menu.

Just a word of caution, being your first turbo car, don't forget to let it warm up to normal temperature before any 'spirited driving' and let it cool down for 3-5 mins afterwards before switching it off ;)

Welcome to the club and welcome to faff ownership im sure you'll love it. I use TRD iridium grade 6 plugs at 1.1bar and as its a faff I would check the front suspension arms if they havent been done already
