Just bought my first 4, it's a 1991 st185, needs a bit of work on the bodywork but the mechanicals are good, it's got 105k on the clock but at 98k it had a rebuilt engine fitted (rebuilt crank and mains, lightened con rods, new rings, new cams, shims, multilayer head gasket, arp head bolts, new clutch, turbo technics recon turbo, full decat mongoose exhaust, new radiator and all new turbo/manifold gaskets, new dump/recirc valve, think thats about all). Its metallic charcoal grey but bonnet & roof has frosty peeling lacquer, front bumper needs a respray, couple of minor dings, all things that can be sorted as & when.
It does go really well and I've got a Santa Pod printout for 12.3/112 for the 1/4 (I'm a bit dubious about this tho) and another printout for 13.4/109.
Anyhow got it booked in for a cambelt kit on tuesday, sorry no pic's yet, can't find the bloody camera at the mo.
Oh & I paid a grand.

Sounds a real bargain, welcome to the club mate :)

Welcome to the club mate ;)
-
super find there, most 185s these days will have their issues, my CS had the same problem when i bought it with peeling laquer over the bonnet and my 1st GT4 was a faded pink with paint oxidisation. Both had a full respray and really brought them to life........ all the best with yours and welcome to the club

I don't think I'm gonna go down the full respray route, I know it would look nice but as it's my daily and gets parked in lots of carparks, well you know what tends to happen then. Think I'll just get the offending bits done (£500 instead of £2k+) It'll look ok and still be a bargain that I probably won't suffer too much deprciation on.

Welcome to the club mate, stick with the 185, dont let the faffing faff owners tell you different.
-
nice to see another 185 member. we can gang up on the 205 owners at meets now haha!
where u from bud?
sounds like youve got yourself a bargain ride.
-
Cheers guys, I won't be changing the st185, I like the style better than the 205, the front end looks far smoother IMO :) Sorry to all you faffers, it's a great car but I just prefer the earlier shape (wouldn't mind a 205 head transplant at some time tho')
I'm from Shrewsbury in Shropshire, cars in the garage at the mo having a cambelt kit and a rolling road tune and power run, I'll let you know the results.
-
i'll agree with ya as i'm a CS man at heart and will being having one again in the near future

Pic's hopefully at the weekend, I've found the camera now, patience please ;D

Got the car back from having a cambelt kit & dyno tune today - £485!!
The dyno figures - 1 bar boost - 272hp @ flywheel, 231hp @ wheels, not bad.
The guy said the ecu has been chipped and he could turn the boost up to 1.1-1.2 bar with no probs considering all the engine mods, think I'll leave as it is and err on the side of reliability for the mo.
I'm well chuffed with those figures tho'. :)
-
nice figures, sounds like shes running well.
Hope your chuffed
-
Nice figures Dave, glad you're happy with them :D Now, how long will it be til the modding bug bites hard? ;)
