'Cos technically the 165 is the best

If it hadn't been produced there would be no other variants of the four so it has to be the best...the original and best

Yes...the body kit is different...the JDM has air con and electromastically folding mirrors and half leather...

that's all I know that is different as I know fook all else about the 1sex5

I do like the CS

It's probably the only 4 that would pull me away from the 165 to be honest

If the 165 wasn't soo sexy that is

UK 165 for me, JDM 165s just look a little too 162 like for me but still sezy as!!!

Time was when I would have gone 205 route, but its just to easy, the 165 is so much more Raw, so expressive to drive, and as mine will have 280bhp very soon, she will be faster than a std 205.

However a black CS or RC on the right wheels and thats some looker

Best looking gotta be the 185 CS,but best car overall has gotta be the 205(Not a Peugeot in case anybody is confused)

Saying that , any GT4 in rally colours does it for me

Hey Manxgt4, I know sheldon a little bit but an essex boy originally!

back to topic, I think its so hard to define best... the 205 is the fastest and best braking, but so it should be, it had years of development to get to that point, but the 165 as gaz points out was the fresh of the slate design, and without it, the 185 and 205 would never of left drawing board. However, I think the actual design of the 185 is more timeless than the 205, which I think looks a bit modern "old" now, where as the 185 has that "cool sports coupe" look, much as say a corrado, or Porsche 944 or 968 does. The 165 is Very retro to people in the know, in the same way a starion, or std looking R32 does, but can also be seen as just another Old car by the uniformed.

The issue of Autocar that came out last Wednesday, ran a back page piece on the 162, explaining how there French Panhard influenced the glass house design, and how it was such a revelation to drive at the time, tight and fun, at a time when lots of Japanese cars where plain soggy but loaded to the gunnel's with kit to make up for it.

By far I would say that a 165 has the most character, for one its the most unrefined to drive, and at times far more challenging than a later 4, you either love or hate the plastic velour interiors, and its so rare, if you own one, you feel a duty to try to keep it going whatever, and out on the road you become protective about it, knowing that you are driving an Icon, which once discovered, will be fully appreciated for its contribution to Rallying, the development and acceptance of road going rally cars from Japan, and for making sure most petrol companies hit record profit levels!!!!

Having had one of each I have to say the 205 is the best by a long way as it ought to be, however the 1sex5 has the character and gets my vote.
Weirdly my personal favourite of the 3 I have owned is my 185.

its got to be the cs for me . owned a 185 a2a then my cs and theirs no comparison especially on style. just my opinion. :

go one better and put a 205 wrc engine and box into a cs and you have the ultimate gt4. in my opinion.

I'd say the ST205JDM due to what alwayzsidewayz said. The ST205 is at the end of a long line of GT4, it is faster, handles better, and stops better. Looks are down to each and everyone of us, some think they look the best, other think the ST185CS looks the best, I can't decide between the 2, I like them both. But when it come to which is the best (un-defined) the ST205 JDM is.

Why not 205 UK? JDM models are alot less rusty than the UK cars. Yes JDM's have a hidden history but so do most UK cas. Go out there and try to find a good cossie :lol:

Agree that the stuff doesn't work Nick, but I like it for the fact that there are only a limited number in the production run and people do want them
