Title: your location and the map
Post by: peterp1per on December 03, 2007, 11:20:28 pm
good evening every one  :)

i would like to encourage everyone to mark there locations on the member map...go on you know you want too!  8)

as the clubs new southern staff member this would really help me out to identify how many of you are from the bottom of the map  :)

would be good to sort out a southern meet for in the new year.

jeff you can set your location on the map through your profile or if you want to view the overall map it's located at the top of the page a tad to the right of your messages button  :)

Works for me, though I've not been on site for a while and got no cookies/cache/saved files or the like which may be getting in the way. Well cool by the way  :D

Me neither, it's a mod that Robbie made, I think, and I have no documentation regarding it and I can't even see who has it and who hasn't at the moment. However I'm fairly sure I'd not add myself to it anyway, it's effectively a sat-nav shopping list of nice modded cars for the price of a membership.

huuummm, the man has a point, but surly youcould just put the general area like nottingham n not full post code and day time number and when you go out to work n such??  (hheheheh)

It is a fair comment and lets face it our kind of cars don't exactly need much more advertising  8)

I never had access to the map, no idea what depth of detail it gave - usually on these things you're forced to enter your entire postcode, but so long as the first 3 were all thats' needed it's not really a problem.

Worries me that people that I dont even know stop me in the street and ask me why my car never moves - I hate to think it would get more attention than that!

I think all you did was put a pin in the map with your user name and car type around where you lived but I can't really remember

I remember when I had the map, it was in my profile page. And yes, all you did was look at a satellite image and put a pin on it. You can zoom right in, but if you just put the pin in the town centre of whatever town/city you live in I dont see it as being a security issue. Would be great to have the map back though

I've found the mod but it's not compatible with our current forum software version, I'll need to figure out a work around, not going to happen this month!
