Reduce the noise!

Anyone got any tips for reducing exhaust noise when tuning in the drive? No-one has complained yet but my garage door vibrates with the car parked next to it at idle. Brillo pads up the tail? It's the low-down thumping I need to get rid of temporarily so I can continue my tuning!

I was thinking of the stuff they use when testing emissions, you know the wide flexi pipe stuff that they stick over the end so it vents out of the workshop? The noisse would reduce based on it travelling further?
