I think they should lend it to Top Gear and see how long it lasts then Wink

Interesting that they say 'most' parts were within tolerances, as to which weren't, well, it could be something vital or am I just being cynical?

From the video, it looks like a hot oil change then started straight after? As for the other service items, same applies...even with intermittent strip-downs it wouldn't represent real world wear then?

Wow... So if I use Mobil 1 I can expect my engine to last 1000000+ miles !?!  Grin

Obviously, i'll need to keep the good ol' 3SGTE running almost constantly, which will result in global warming doom within a couple of months... but f*ck it.

Might *BLEEP* the neighbours off too... bonus!

TBH I have a photo of my dads 535i opened up after 250K normal miles and maintenance and it looks as clean as that, if not cleaner!

Yeah I think if they'd tried it on a Ford it would have been a different story Grin

My better half has a big tank 525i touring with 173k on it and it never uses oil and its always clean when I change it. They are just pretty good lumps in the first place and I'm confident that if looked after almost any other would do the same, regular oil changes are key, even if using a lesser quality brand.

Don't say that... I just bought one! It's 92000 miles so far, with my help it may make a million... ish.
