hi guys i swapped my 185 a few years ago for an rx7. worst thing i ever did, so been trying to trace it but have had no luck. i know that the head gasket had gone on it so was put in the guys garage and just left there. i have checked the dvla and they have no records for it. i spend thousands on the car rebuilding it including st205 engine conversion. reg is G683 FSJ

I think once a vehicle is sold on it is difficult to find again as DVLA wouldn't pass on the new details. One idea would be if you could contact the guy you sold it to, and then he tells you who he sold it to, etc...........bit of a long shot, sadly

I think its still the same guy that has it as spoke to him when the head gasket went on it and he said it just been put in his lock up. But ave lost his contact details. Just remember he was called steve.

I found this link:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/AdviceOnKeepingYourVehicle/DG_4022067

However, it depends on you demonstrating 'justifiable cause' for needing the information, perhaps you have found the locking wheel nut or a spare key that needs to be forwarded?

Cheers

Excellent thanks al give that a try. But I did put the reg into the dvla and said they have no records for it. But I sent them letters when I sold the car with the guys address which I have now lost. The reason for this was the guy never seemed to put the car in his name and run it while being sorn'd.

Judging by the context so far, I'm not sure it would be good to get it back?
