I'm looking for a list of cars with a longitudinal engine mounting and FWD or 4WD with an integral front diff/tranny (transaxle). I'm in a toss up between BEC, MR2 turbo running gear and monster giggles V6/8 so I'm fleshing out the ideas but need meat. So far I've found the old renault 21s etc but those boxes wont take the sort of power im looking at. I need something with comparable power/weight ratio to the stock/mild 3sgte. I want an F1 car. On the road.

Hmm didn't know that. They did a v6 version too, wonder if that was FFL too. It was only 170hp which isnt ideal but might be a starting point. I'll keep it in mind. thanks!

I seem to remember some of the old renaults running the engine opposite direction to normal so beware 5 reverse / 1 forward gear

Does the engine need to be longditudinal ? V6 especially is often as wide as it is long.

Why not go rear drive for a real giggle ? Opens up a whole world of huge american stuff or rover V8 / Ford V6 (sierra cosworth, capri etc.) All stuff easily available cheap as chips.

Are skyline 4wd still longditudinal ?

My ultimate plan is to try to create either the most "awesome" car I can, or the most amazing performer (go,turn, stopping)!

So it's either like this, with a monster V6/V8 longitudinally mounted (but requiring a FWD box to do so in the rear):

or using a bike engine or MR2 engine/box to do a:

Give Si (strontium dog) a PM as he's building kit cars at the moment and will have done a fair bit of research. I'm seeing him at rallyday tomorrow and will mention this thread to him.
