Yet more sill rust, heading into the back arches. All the inner cross-bracing bits at the back of the sill have rotted through. Inner sill perforated on one side, rear inner wing/arch perforated on same side. Going to be hell to hack into and clean up.  Cry

I'm this close >< to breaking him and dropping his soul into something with less metal but I feel I've committed to the long haul somehow.

Looks about the same as my 205 was. If it's any consolation mine is still holding out after nearly 2 years, although it nearly got torched at the time (unintentional). Lesson learned - never try welding after waxoil has been applied..

Oooofff! look at those holes! My god! On the insides of mine *most* bits are just surface rusty and clean back to bare metal quite quickly so only limited chopping required! Managed to sort out the sill side of things on one side tonight but the arch inner will need quite a patch. It's now sub zero outside so I've come in for a rest!

Mine's getting patched and put back on the road, I just keep getting disheartened. The moment it fails on welding again it's being broken and I'm putting the engine into an atom-esque self build.

The rest of mine is solid. It was just a bodge job of fitting body kit letting water run in and lie inside.

As I said, still going strong a couple of years on.

p.s. - The gas bottle makes a good former to bend the metal round to shape the outer sill patches.

Just think of the effort you've already put in to it, would be a shame to bail-out now.

Don't let the winter blues get to ya. Beer helps (not whilst welding though).

Gas bottle former- I like it! Fortunate to have a sheet metal bender at work I can sneek onto out of hours Smiley

Good points though, this is the reason I'm working on it still after all - it's practically new running-gear wise - new box, clutch, turbo, bushes, bearings. It's just when it's body stuff and the days are cold and dark it's hard to pluck up the courage to get into it!

Cheers all. Game on!

Jeeeesus - that would pretty much scare me to death, though at that stage I'd say it was live or die for the body - it can't get much worse.

And there's those damn stupid drain hoses again - I mean what moron drains water into a closed sill? Mine are going to be connected up to the rear arch so no more water drains into the sill.
